ROCKFORD, IL – The cost of living for the Rockford area is 5% lower than the national average. This means that Rockford is a less expensive community than other areas of the country that participate in the quarterly cost of living index survey (COLI) conducted by The Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER - C2ER).

Among the 290 urban areas that participated in the second quarter of the ACCRA Cost of Living Index, the after-tax cost for a professional/managerial standard of living ranged from more than twice, or 215%, the national average in New York (Manhattan) to more than 20% below the national average in Joplin, Missouri.
